A majority of YPO events are focused on lifelong learning topics across business, family and personal themes. These events are punctuated by access to resources and speakers no other organization can match. Recent Kansas City events include Peter Diamandis, futurist and founder of the XPRIZE Foundation and Singularity University; Dr. Anna Lembke, Stanford professor, bestselling author and featured in the documentary The Social Dilemma; James Clear, bestselling author; Molly Bloom, bestselling author and subject of the movie Molly’s Game; Anne McClain, NASA astronaut who is scheduled to be the first woman on the moon; an improv workshop with world-famous The Second City, and many more.
Family events are designed to bring all the families of YPO Kansas City together to experience extraordinary camaraderie and togetherness – and fun. Recent family events include a private airshow at Wheeler Downtown Airport, a private carnival, exclusive events at Arrowhead Stadium and Children’s Mercy Park, volunteer opportunities with Kansas City nonprofits, and many more.
One of the tenets of YPO is fostering a community of peer leaders and providing behind-the-scenes access to Kansas City organizations, projects and events. Recent examples include private concerts, a private tour of the new terminal at KCI Airport during construction, a one-of-a-kind tour of an active state prison, a tour of the under-construction Rock Island Bridge project, an intimate conversation with Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas, and many more.
Each year, our chapter hosts a Presidents Retreat that brings all members together in an exclusive environment that fosters connection and fellowship. Recent locations for this multi-day event include Montreal, New Orleans, Austin and San Diego.
Consistently ranked as the No. 1 most valued element of the YPO experience, Forum provides members the peer-to-peer feedback and access to shared experiences that are so difficult to obtain in day-to-day life. Forums are governed by a tried-and-true YPO process that has been honed over 70-plus years.
Forum is available to both members and spouses/partners, and serves as a personal board of advisers, tackling any topic together – across business, family and personal issues – in a “YPO confidential” environment.
To be considered for Forum placement, members and spouses/partners must attend in-person Forum training. After such training, the Forum Officer will work with you to determine which Forum is the best fit based on your business and life stage, and which Forums are currently accepting new members. A typical Forum consists of 6-10 members.
